This was a good Diwali, had a nice time. I don't work,(as in going to office. My work at home is as hectic as it can be), evn then, felt those monday-morning and post-vacation blues.
This Diwali was special because i got my parents and in-laws gifts for Diwali., How we take our elders for granted. Just before Diwali i realised i had never given my mother a saree. I have been giving gifts to cousins, friends etc. all my life. But never mom and dad. I took my mom to the mall and bought her a saree of her choice. Still cannot forget the look on her face. Even more memorable was my mom-in-law's expression. She was pleasantly surprised when i handed over a package to her. She was too overwhelmed to say much. But the difference in her behaviour was immediate and apparent.
Its not about being materialistic. Just that even elders like to be showered with gifts once in a while. A small gift coming from their children must feel great, i am sure.
How small things make a huge difference. Why did I never realise this till today? But now, no more only accepting. Giving is the order of the day.......
